There are lots of helpful tools online to help you find out who owns a standard residential or business phone number. Often it’s as easy as running a simple search for the number at a search engine such as Google, Yahoo, or MSN.

But finding cell phone numbers is a bit more complicated than that. Cell phone numbers are unlisted, and there isn’t one big directory of numbers to be searched.

Sure, you can try finding cell phone numbers with Google or Yahoo, but don’t get your hopes up. You’d have to hope that they posted their cell phone numbers somewhere online where the search engines could find it and add it to their listings. And most people are more careful than that with their private number.

Fortunately there are online services that allow you to search for information on a cell phone’s owner, and it usually only takes a few minutes. The downside is that they charge a fee for their services.

But the fee is pretty reasonable at around $19 or less per search (some sites even let you pay a one-time fee for as many searches as you want).

That’s a pretty small price to pay for peace of mind if someone is making prank phone calls, or if a strange number keeps showing up on your husband’s (or wife’s) cell phone.

I find it reassuring to know that I can look up any cell phone number I want and have a full phone report on the owner in about five minutes.

The service I use and recommend is called Reverse-Telephone-Lookup.com Check it out and you’ll receive an instant phone report on the registered owner of any residential, business, or cell phone number.
